IT has for long been a male-dominated field and for decades women has been underrepresented in this arena, but with the transformational change in the educational system and the adoption of STEM, this disparity in technology gender gap has gradually been changing and more and more women is seen embracing this field and occupying important leading positions as Software Engineers, Lead Programmers, CIOs, CTOs and head of IT companies. The sector has a vast spectrum of opportunities and career prospects to offer and girls and women should be empowered and encouraged to embrace this sector. Hopefully in the near future we expect to have an increase in the percentage of ‘Women in Tech’ and more and more women would be seen serving this sector and act as role models for the young generation.
