ABOUT THE PROGRAMME LEADER

Mr. Georges SOODEEN
Programme Leader Tourism & Hospitality, Leisure & Sports

Mr Soodeen is the Programme Leader for the Tourism and Hospitality cluster of Polytechnics Mauritius Ltd. He has 20 years of working experience within tourism, leisure and sport industry both public and private. He holds an MSC in Sport Business Management, a BA in International Tourism Management and a Diploma in Social Science.

Additionally, Mr Soodeen is a Master Scuba Instructor for two international federations and as well as a Registered Exercise Professional (REP) as a gym instructor from England. Teaching has always been a passion, doing so for the last 15 years around the world has provided himself with rich life experience. He is luckily now involved in the Higher TVET industry, an another great opportunity to help students shape up their life towards a better career.

Mr. Geerish RAMSURRUN

Senior Lecturer Tourism & Hospitality, Leisure & Sports

With over 12 years of experience in the tourism, hospitality, and education sectors, Mr. Geerish has become a highly adaptable professional. Coupled with a strong academic background, he possesses a versatile skill set and is committed to fostering innovation and research that makes a positive impact on society. His focus is on guiding students to become independent thinkers with aspirations for a brighter future.

Mr. Geerish holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCert HE), a Master of Science in Tourism Management and Marketing, and a Bachelor Degree with Honours in Tourism and Hospitality Management. As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK, FHEA), he upholds the highest standards in teaching and professional development. A passionate lifelong learner and curious traveller, he continuously seeks new insights and opportunities for growth, both personally and professionally.

Mr. Shanil G. JUGHDHARREE

Lecturer Tourism & Hospitality, Leisure & Sports

Mr. Shanil has over 18 years of teaching experience in the following fields; Tourism, Travel, Hospitality, Marketing and Management to both local and international students. He has held various positions as; Senior Lecturer, Board Member, Head of Academic Department, Head of Administration, Marketing Manager, Event Manager, Trainer and Educator at renowned institutions, contributing significantly to curriculum development of Travel and Tourism program in Mauritius. Mr. Shanil holds an Executive Masters of Business Administration, a Master of Science in Tourism Management and Specialisation in Marketing, a BSc (Hons) in Tourism and Hospitality Management. His aim is to create a conducive learning educational environment for students by always ensure to stay at the forefront of industry changes. Above all, he believes that life is a challenging experience and it is required to apply the importance of fairness, ethics and integrity.

Mrs. Vimla BISASUR- PICHHA

With 17 years of diverse experience, Mrs Vimla has held roles such as HR & Training Manager in a South African fast-food franchise, operations manager at a training institution, lecturer in both corporate and TVET sectors and in housekeeping at 5-star hotels in India and Mauritius.
Moreover, she has also designed corporate team-building exercises, created training programs in hospitality and management, and served as a Public Relations Officer for TVET. Holding an MBA in HR & Knowledge Management from UTM and a BA in Hotel Management from Bangalore University, she has always had a passion for sharing knowledge and creating innovative teaching strategies that encourage active learning, developing fresh approaches to education and remaining current with business trends to stimulate student engagement and interest.

Ms. Prerna D. SEETOHUL

Ms. Prerna has over 16 years of professional experience in the Tourism & Hospitality Industry, specialising in Food & Beverage.
She has worked for Luxury Hotels and Resorts, Fine Dining Restaurant & Catering and Age Care, both nationally and internationally.

She holds a Master Degree in International Hospitality Management, a Bachelor Degree in International Tourism & Hotel Management and a Higher National Diploma in Hospitality Management.

Her aim is to share her skills, experiences and passion for the Tourism & Hospitality Industry to her students in guiding and shaping them to become passionate and polyvalent hoteliers which the world of hospitality needs. Her motto is ‘Les journées ne se ressemblent pas et les défis dans le métier ne nous font pas peur!’

Mrs Deemeeta SEETAHUL MEHENDALE

With a decade of experience in the tourism and hospitality industries, Mrs. Deemeeta brings a unique blend of academic excellence and industry expertise. She holds a BSc with Honours in Food Science and Technology from UOM and an MSc with Merit in Food Safety & Quality Management from Natural Resources Institute of the University of Greenwich, UK. Complementing her technical qualifications, she has also earned a Master of Education, demonstrating her commitment to connecting industry and academia. She has made significant contributions to high-profile projects, particularly within Sun Life and Ciel Group, where she played a key role in achieving industry certifications. Her professional portfolio also includes valuable experience with Lux* Resorts and SKC Surat & Co. Ltd. She now dedicates herself to nurturing the next generation of professionals in this dynamic and promising field, ensuring that they grasp the fundamentals and are ready to apply them in the real world.

Miss Yeshna Jessie Dabeedooal

Ms. Jessie has 11 years of teaching experience in Secondary and Higher education, and specialized in Tourism and Hospitality Management. She has a Masters in Tourism Management and a Masters in International and Comparative Education. She has also completed a Bsc (Hons) in Hospitality and Tourism Management and a Diploma in Hospitality Management. Her training in multiple renowned hotels helped her to gain exposure to the industry, thus adding to a quality education in Technical Education. Her aim is to cater for the development of aspiring students through effective and innovative pedagogical techniques in the tourism and hospitality industry.

Miss. Lovanee D. NOWZADICK
