Facts about Aquaculture
Aquaculture is one of the emerging sectors in Mauritius. According to the Aquaculture Master Plan of the Ministry of Blue Economy, Marine Resources, Fisheries and Shipping, there are around 21 sites for aquaculture development. There is a potential for an annual production of 29,000 tonnes of fish in the medium term and may grow to 39,000 tonnes in the coming years that will be mostly from fish farming at sea. This programme will be taught in 4 semesters (2 years) will cover all aspects related to aquaculture such as aquatic health and diseases that is critical to the well being of the fishes. Moreover, the programme include a large part of internship in industry.
Upon completion, graduates may join the industrial workforce to be able to hold positions such as:

- Aquarists
- Aquaculture Farmer/Manager
- Seafood Scientists/Quality Control Inspectors
- Science/Research Assistant
- Water Filtration/Management Consultant
